Mrs. Moore's students were separated into small groups for literature circles. Each group had been assigned a different book to challenge them. Literature circles can be a place for cooperative learning and an opportunity for students to help each other understand a text. Literature circles are fun, in part because they are a social experience. Students are encouraged to talk to each other and debate their ideas. Students are invited to bring their experiences and feelings into the classroom and share them. Reading has to be fun; if we don't make the experience enjoyable, our students are not likely to continue reading as they get older.
