Mrs. Moore's class learned about the different layers of skin and how important skin is to the human body. Students used pudding, Oreo crumbs and Twizzlers to replicate the layers of skin, hair and blood vessels.

MHS Celebrates Literacy Week

Students at Mossy Head School enjoyed various activities to celebrate Literacy Week and the theme, "Lost in a Book." Just a few of the activities include the following... Students paired up with other classes and grade levels for partner reading. The entire school participated in D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) time. Classes decorated their doors to show off which book they were "lost" in.

Lego League Robotics teams

January 31, 2018

Mossy Head School's First Lego League Robotics teams, Mechanical Mustangs and Mustang Movers, competed in a robotics tournament on Saturday, January 27. The teams were awarded the Judges' Award. The judges were impressed by the teams' growth since their last competition in November.
We are now selling a variety of ice cream treats in the cafeteria during lunch. The cost for the ice cream is $1.00.
Walton County Schools will be open tomorrow, January 18. However, the temperatures will remain cold, so please make sure children are dressed appropriately. ALL OUTSIDE activities during and after school will be cancelled.

Based on weather reports and communications with our local EOC, Superintent A. Russell Hughes has closed Walton County Schools for Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

In addition, all out of county after school activities today, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, are cancelled.

A decision concerning Thursday's school opening will be made by 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Please stay tuned to our webpage, Facebook page and media outlets for additional information.

Applications are now available for parents who are considering enrolling their children in a school other than their zoned school. Florida Statue 1002.31 requires district school boards to adopt and implement a plan to allow a parent from any school in the state to enroll a child in a school of choice.

The Controlled Open Enrollment (COE) application window for the Walton County School District is from January 3 - March 13. Parents/Guardians must provide transportation to the COE school with available capacity. Parents/Guardians may obtain an application at any school, on the district website or through the district office.
