Mossy Head School hosted their annual Fall Fling on October 25th. The beautiful fall afternoon was filled with fun games and activities, bouncy houses, a dunkin' booth, chili cook-off, a limo "hey-ride," and lots of great food. It was definitely a fun afternoon for everyone!

Mossy Head School hosted their annual Family Reading and Writing Night on October 3rd. Parents visited classroom sessions to learn about the new Common Core State Standards and how learning is changing for their child/children. Parents worked together with their children to complete activities that incorporated the new standards. Afterwards, they were able to visit the book fair in the Media Center and purchase books for their child to read at home. It was definitely as successful evening for Mossy Head School students, parents, and faculty!

Fire Prevention Week

November 12, 2013

Mossy Head School’s Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classes celebrated Fire Prevention Week with a visit from the local fire department. Firefighters brought their fire trucks and gear to teach students about preventing fires and what to do in case of a fire. The students had a great time learning about fire prevention and safety from our local firefighters. MHS would like to give our local fire stations a big THANK YOU for helping our students learn about fire prevention and safety!

Students at Mossy Head School decorated a pumpkin based on their class’s favorite book they’ve read so far this year. The storybook pumpkins included characters from Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse, Captain Underpants, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Grouchy Ladybug, Dinosaurs, Skeleton Meets the Mummy, The Box Car Children, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Wizard of Oz, Monsters Inc., Because of Winn Dixie, No David!, and Charlotte’s Web. The pumpkins were entered into a contest at MHS’s Fall Fling. The winner was Mrs. Cole’s 3rd Grade Class with their pumpkin based on the main character “Stuart” in Stuart Little by E.B. White. Mrs. Cole’s class read the novel and extended their learning into Mrs. Maria William’s art class in order to create “Stuart.” Great job Mrs. Cole’s class!
